Planning a 2 week Thailand itinerary as an independent traveller and looking for routes and suggestions?
You are probably wondering what to see in in Thailand in 14 days and the best places to go during your time here. Having lived in Thailand for many years, I have personally travelled many of the below routes with visitors or solo. When planning your 14 day Thailand itinerary, I recommend considering:
- Where you are flying into – most likely Bangkok or Phuket
- Thailand island hopping routes
- Southern Thailand 2 week Itinerary – more for beach lovers
- Northern Thailand route 2 week itinerary – more for hikers and mountain lovers

Southern Thailand Itinerary 2 Weeks
What to do in Thailand for 2 weeks when you love the beach? Plan a Thailand island hopping route heading to the famous and beautiful beach destinations. Consider a scuba diving course or some snorkelling trips. Visit the best beaches in Thailand, whether you want to party or to relax on the best quiet islands in Thailand.
Day 1 Fly + ferry, train/bus + ferry to visit Koh Tao
Day 2 & 3 Stay on Koh Tao to party or take a dive course for 4 days
Day 4 & 5 Ferry to Koh Phangan, spend time snorkelling, hanging out on beaches and partying
Day 6 & 7, 8 Head across to the Andaman coast and stay in Krabi – Ao Nang or Railay, go island hopping. Read here for my full Krabi guide of what to do and where to stay.
Day 9,10 For partying and beautiful beaches head to Koh Phi Phi and visit the famous beach from ‘The Beach’ movie in Maya Bay
Day 11, 12, 13 Take the ferry to Koh Lanta for a more relaxed island experience, chill with monkeys and explore the islands beaches
Day 14 Head back to Bangkok/Phuket to fly out
14 Days in Thailand Where to Go for Partying
So you’ve come to Thailand to party and let loose? While there is more to Thailand than just the infamous parties, attending a Full Moon Party is probably on your Thailand bucket list and is not to be missed if you love beach parties
Day 1,2,3 Party on Khao San Road in Bangkok. Read here for more Bangkok suggestions
Day 4 & 5 Stay on Koh Tao to party with all the backpackers
Day 6,7,8 Ferry to Koh Phangan, time it well with a famous Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan or if you aren’t there over Full Moon itself then consider joining a Half Moon Party or a Jungle Party. For my Full Moon Party tips read this article
Day 9,10,11, Get a transfer to Koh Phi Phi on the Andaman side and party until the sun comes up and enjoy the best fire shows in Thailand.
Day 12, 13, 14 Ferry to Phuket and party for a few days at the big night clubs there before flying out
14 Days in Thailand Where to Go for Culture
For your Thailand 2 weeks holiday then consider soaking up the history – both ancient and World War 2 of Thailand.

Day 4&5 Take the train to Ayutthaya, rent bicycles and cycle around this old city
Day 6, 7, 8,9 Explore culture in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai amongst other Chiang Mai activities
Day 10 fly back to Bangkok and head to Kanchanaburi
Day 11, 12,13,14 Explore museums, World War 2 history and waterfalls in Kanchanaburi
14 Day Thailand Itinerary for Active and Adventure Travellers
This is the best Thailand backpacking route for 2 weeks as it contains both Northern Thailand and island hopping routes in Southern Thailand
Day 1&2 Explore Bangkok
Day 3,4,5 6 Head to Chiang Mai and spend a few days exploring all the adventure activities there
Day 7, 8, 9 Fly to Krabi and spend time rock climbing in Railay, island hopping, go scuba diving, visit hot springs and hike in the National Parks in Krabi – read here for a full Krabi guide
Day 10, 11, 12 Go to Khao Sok National Park, sleep in a tree house, a floating bungalow on a lake, go kayaking, jungle trekking and on boat tours to spot gibbons, monkeys and a chance of wild elephants! Khao Sok is one of the most beautiful places in Thailand.
Day 13, 14 Head to Phuket for surfing (rainy season only June-Oct), ziplining, exploring beaches and waterfalls
