Where to Stay in Ao Nang

Picking where to stay in Ao Nang is overwhelming. With so many options, it can take hours of scrolling through mixed reviews trying to make a decision. Having lived in Thailand for over 8 years, Krabi is one of my favourite destinations to visit and these are the best hotels I’ve stayed in. These are my top picks for hotels in Ao Nang all with pools and right near the beach. I’ve personally stayed in and loved all of these Ao Nang hotels (some of them multiple times- especially the one with the rooftop pool!). They are great for couples and travelling with friends.

Why Stay in Ao Nang Krabi?

Stay in Ao Nang Thailand if you would like a great base that is great for island hopping, experiencing beaches in Krabi, getting from Ao nang to Railay and to hike some of the national parks in Krabi. Almost every time I head to Krabi, I pick Ao Nang because it’s such a good base to have! I personally choose it over Railay (see below for why!)

This area is also very accessible to get from Krabi airport to Ao nang so the best for a shorter journey time- this is especially important for me when flying down from Bangkok for a weekend!

Best Hotels to Stay in Ao Nang (to suit every budget!)

Budget (but nice!) Accommodation

Seaseeker is very conveniently located, has a swimming pool and is a five minute walk to the main road and to the beaches of Ao Nang. It is also close to the longtail boat office where you take boats from Ao Nang to Railay – I love how handy it is for island hopping trips!

The pool was really clean, had a slide (yes I went on it despite not being with kids!). I think this is a good cheap Ao Nang hotel for families, couples or friends on a budget but who want to be near the action!

Seaseeker has clean rooms with balconies, waterfall showers and is great value for money – I wasn’t expecting much on my first stay because it was so cheap (I went in rainy season) but I was so pleasantly surprised and I got breakfast included too which was delish!

If looking for the best place to stay in Ao Nang on a small budget then Seaseeker is a great hotel for you.

It is also near the Ao Nang monkey trail with access to a smaller beach over the monkey trail hike, which is about a 15 minute walk. If you love some monkey sightings then this is a great place to be!

Avoid this hotel if you want uninterrupted seaviews, it’s set back a little from the beach (though just a 5 minute walk) but it doesn’t have the beach views that other hotels have!

Best Mid Range Hotel in Ao Nang

The best place to stay in Ao Nang and my personal favourite is the Blue Sotel SMART. I’ve stayed here multiple times, as a couple, with my sister and with friends!

For me, the major perk is the rooftop pool which is the nicest I’ve found in Ao Nang so far! It has a pool bar and sunsets right in front of you so it’s just all round great vibes. You can see the ocean from the rooftop pool although it’s not right on the beach but it’s a 2 minute walk! My sister and I loved ordering cocktails and watching the limestone karsts light up in the sunset glow.

There are actually two pools on the rooftop (not sure why but I’m not complaining!). One end of them has kind of jacuzzi style jets so while the jacuzzi doesn’t get hot you can get a massage from the jets after a swim!

When I booked a stay at this Ao Nang hotel I was super impressed with how hi tech the rooms felt. There are buttons for everything, tons of room for chargers and most impressively, a button that would make the bathroom glass turn transparent or opaque! Not something I’d seen before (and I haven’t since!)

This hotel is NOT for families as it is an adult only hotel so ideal for couples and friend breaks without any noisy kids splashing in the pool!

In a similar area to Sea Seeker, this Ao Nang hotel is in a great location for walking to one of the beaches in Ao Nang, the main road with many restaurants and bars and a short walk to the monkey trail in Ao Nang.

Blue Sotel is the best place to stay in Ao Nang if you want to splash out a little more money, enjoy a rooftop pool and still be in an accessible location. Don’t get confused!! There are two Blue Sotel, the best hotel near Ao Nang beach is Blue Sotel SMART so make sure you book the right one (unlike one of my mates who didn’t follow my link!)

Luxury Hotels in Ao Nang – My Wishlist!

So these are the Ao Nang resorts that I wish I could afford and plan to book in the future when I have a bit more money coming in!

I always hang out in front of the Centara Grand! It actually has it’s own beach but it’s not private so I’ve been many times to it, walking over monkey trail and then swimming and hanging out on the beach. It looks so lovely to stay at and I’m itching to visit!

The only downside is you would have to hike over the little hill (monkey trail) to get to all the bars and restaurants so the Centara is definitely good for a resort style, you don’t want to leave and are happy to have most of your meals and drinks in the place. You would also need a longtail boat to get there!

On the dream wish list I also have one of the fanciest hotels in Thailand which is the Rayavadee which is actually in Railay but I feel like it’s worth mentioning on my dream list because of all the Pinterest cave photos. Maybe you’ve seen them, these gorgeous tables and chairs set out on the sand but tucked under the huge cliffs of Railay – just beautiful and hotel goals for the future! Just not when I’m on a teacher in Thailand budget, but would make an ideal honeymoon hotel to splurge on!
