If you’re planning a Thailand vacation and you already have put the beautiful island of Koh Lipe on your list then you are in for a paradise island it’s why it’s my favourite and why after 8+ years of living in Thailand I keep returning (despite the long journey from Bangkok!).
Where to stay in Koh Lipe depends on your budget and the island offers a range of budget accommodation. Koh Lipe accommodation includes budget hostels, beach bungalows and luxury resorts. I have stayed on Koh Lipe more times than I can count and stayed at all of these hotels! (Some of them even in the same week as I occasionally pair a budget place with a boujie one at the end of my trip!)
Overview
Budget Koh Lipe Hotels
The best budget accommodation on Koh Lipe is Bloom Cafe and Hostel. Located right on walking street, it’s a charming hostel that I stayed at with friends previously. There are shared bathrooms which are clean, the rooms are lovely and the beds super comfortable and you get given an actual duvet. Lockers are available for your items. Can get a little noisy from people walking by on walking street but very centrally located to walk to both sunrise and pattaya beach.

Sunrise Beach – best for snorkelling
Sunrise beach in Koh Lipe is one of the best beaches for snorkelling and kayaking although Pattaya beach is also enjoyable. You can swim, kayak or snorkel to two nearby islands on sunrise beach which have healthy colourful coral and an array of tropical fish and marine life.
Sunrise beach is the best beach in Koh Lipe to stay on for scuba diving as most of the main dive centres operate from there. My personal preference is to dive with Adang Sea Divers.
Sunrise beach is true to it’s name and you can get some beautiful sunrises here if up early in the morning.
Best bungalows on Sunrise Beach
For gorgeous wooden beach bungalows on sunrise beach, stay at Castaway. They are fan only rooms with a cold shower and mosquito net right on the beach with tons of character. The restaurant is amazing so make sure to eat here, sitting on mats overlooking the ocean even if you don’t stay at Castaway.

Top Luxury Hotel on Sunrise
Idyllic Concept is a stunning luxury hotel located on sunrise beach. I have a full review of this here, as it is one of the best luxury places I have stayed at on Koh Lipe and I definitely recommend if you are looking for luxury Koh Lipe accommodation and happy to splurge on this amazing hotel.

Top resort on Pattaya beach
Akira is the only resort on my list I have not personally been to. However, multiple friends have stayed and really enjoyed it. I have been to the restaurant many times and always enjoyed their cocktail happy hour.

Best for island views
The best view from a hotel I’ve stayed at on Koh Lipe is The Cliff. It’s up on a hill but has its own private beach and stunning views. It also is a great sunset viewpoint over sunset beach.

Easy ways to book
I always book accommodation in Thailand using Agoda or Booking.com. I usually find Agoda to be cheaper although I always double check to make sure I am getting the best deal. Agoda have always been great with refunds for me personally and I think there customer service is efficient if you encounter a problem. They are actually owned by the same parent company.
How to get there
The best way of getting to Koh Lipe from Bangkok is to fly to Hat Yai and then take a minivan (1.5hrs approx) and a speedboat (1.5hrs approx). You can book through 12go Asia so that the minivan is waiting for you when you arrive at Hat Yai airport.
